Another Award winning spotlight! We are giving a big congrats to Mink Makeup & Hair for winning Best Hair Styling at the Professional BC Wedding Awards for a second year in a row. If you haven’t had a chance to meet and chat with Melanie Tremblay (Owner and principal hair and makeup stylist) you really should. She takes the time to understand the brides she works with to ensure that she creates the style of their dreams, you will walk down the aisle feeling AMAZING!! She is also tons of fun to work with, she always makes us smile.

We are very proud of Fran Cheilico who was the runner up for Best Overall Wedding Photographer at this years Professional BC Wedding Awards. Fran is very passionate about her photography and it shows in her work. Here is how Fran felt that evening, in her own words:
Last Wednesday were the 2011 Professional BC Wedding Awardswhere I was the runner up for Best Overall Wedding Photographer for all of British Columbia. Even though I didn’t come in first … the feeling that night is one I will not soon forget. I was in a theatre filled with the most amazing talent shmoozing and networking with people that I had either just met, haven’t seen for a while or people I consider close friends in the industry. I was so nervous. Most of the awards were already handed out when I was chatting away and discussing the photos that were up on the screen when my name appeared with one of my photos for Best Overall Wedding Photographer…I think I lost all color in my face and my heart was racing … I heard some of my friends screaming … I remember turning around to look at my husband for support … only to see how proud he was of me … that was an even better feeling and made me a smidge calmer. Although the extremely talented Sakura won … I couldn’t be prouder of the work I did at Roseanne & Derek’s wedding and for them trusting me with so much creative freedom. Truly … madly … deeply … do I love what I do!!!!!!!!

The Falls – Robert & Rebecca’s wedding started with the ladies getting ready in the Presidential Suite at The Falls in Chilliwack. Lots of laughs were had between Rebecca and her bridesmaids as they were getting ready for the Big Day.
Minter Gardens Wedding – The ceremony was under the marquis tent at Minter Gardens. It rained a bit that day, but the rain only added to the romance and intimacy that these two share. I love the look on Rebecca and her father’s faces as they start to walk down the aisle.
Quick Break at Minter – We had a quick break between the ceremony and reception so we wandered through the gardens for a bit where Rob & Rebecca had a bit of quiet time to say hello s husband and wife.
Details Perhaps, my favourite part of the wedding were the amazing details they put into the day. From the butterfly release, to absolutely gorgeous floral arrangements and bridal bouquets, to an amazing candy buffet that Rebecca’s Mom put together, to the delicious cake that carried the butterfly theme into the reception.
Wedding Reception – The morning reception was held in the Trillium room at Minter Gardens with speeches, cake cutting and first dances.
Wedding Photos Minter Gardens - After the reception Rebecca & Rob braved the rain for a portrait session with their families and wedding party. We ended with a few portraits of the newlyweds before they zipped off in a limo to attend their evening parties.

Bernice & Jack’s wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful. The weather was perfect with plenty of sunshine and blue skies, and starting the day with Bernice’s wonderful family and friends was really lovely. The atmosphere that morning was full of anticipation and pure joy.
There’s something to be said about door games and proving one’s worthy to their bride’s friends and family: it’s chivalry at its best. Now, if I can say something about Jack it’s this: he’s proud of his love for Bernice and he isn’t afraid to dance in the street, take his chance with getting his legs waxed or drink mystery substances all for love. He didn’t get his legs waxed (his groomsmen took that bullet for him!), but he did exceptionally well with all of the obstacles the bridesmaids put in his way.
A bit of bargaining went on, but they finally allowed him to come in to greet his bride and to share a bit of tea with his new family. After a quick tea ceremony, it was time for Bernice to change into her gown before we went to UBC for some portraits.
Their ceremony and reception was held at the gorgeous Shaughnessy Golf and Country Club. The ceremony started in the late afternoon and the timing was perfect. I loved how Bernice and Jack added a sand-pouring element at the end to symbolize their two lives joining as one.
Bernice & Jack entered their reception with a choreographed first dance! Graceful, loving and very smoooooth. Like I said, Jack is not afraid to wear his heart on his sleeve.
After dinner and just before the sunset, we managed to sneak away with them for a few more portraits. Here is our favourite!
